DE-SC 0021074) instrument description "The SP2 was located in the temperature-controlled trailer adjacent to the NCSU Flux Tower to observe refractory black carbon (rBC) number concentration and mixing states of black carbon. The sample line brought aerosol inside the trailer at 4.5 L min-1, where it was distributed between 3 CPCs (TSI 3776c, Dc ~ 2.5 nm, TSI 3771, Dc ~10nm, and TSI 3772, Dc ~40 nm) with different size cuts, a printed particle optical spectrometer (POPS), and SP2. The data was put at regularly gridded 16-size bin channels. The black carbon concentration data and diagnostic files were generated by the SP2 manufacturer logged time at UTC. Only days without malfunction are reported. Maintenance time was not excluded from merged.csv files, but removed from NCSU tower data. An example of a malfunction day is when the sample flow rate was low (<< 0.12 L min-1). Example of suspicious day was when SP2 purely scattering particle concentrations were lower than that of printed optical particle concentrations." Files for 20220726 and 20220926 included 64 bin size channels for scattering and 512 size bin channels for incandescence for calibration. All other files included 16-bin channels for both incandescence and scattering channels.
